Public Program:
American Dining: A Working Woman's Moment
Date
January 12 1988 at 8:00
Description
"American Dining;' an offsite installation and a one night performance at the Museum, explores the theme of American labor in the 1980s from a uniquely feminist and satirical point of view. The installation, presented at Gefens Dairy Restaurant in Manhattan, is composed of several components: diners playing the juke box will be treated to musical monologues by Allyn; and the regular placemats will be replaced with new ones, created by the artist with content devoted to famous working women. Based on the traditional fun-and·games format, the placemat diversions include, for example, "Name That Dame: Who Are These Famous Food Women?"
